It&#8217;s hard to keep track of all the activities that have been taking place. Our CSA membership is full for the season. We have started a waiting list in case some spots \u00a0open up. The oats are planted after some considerable frustration with getting the proper seed after we were sent &#8220;treated&#8221; seed which as organic farmers we were unable to plant. \u00a0We purchased \u00a0a new horse drawn implement this spring called a \u00a0&#8220;cultimulcher&#8221;\u00a0 for working up the ground. It prepares a lovely seed bed to plant into. It also fits perfectly between our rows of fall raspberries, which is an added bonus!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1154\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1154\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.orchardhillfarm.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_7620.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1154\" title=\"IMG_7620\" src=\"http:\/\/www.orchardhillfarm.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_7620-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.orchardhillfarm.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_7620-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.orchardhillfarm.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_7620.jpg 680w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1154\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Happy Greenhouse Transplants <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Our hoop houses have all been planted to head lettuce and early greens to help with the first pick-ups of the season. \u00a0We have tomatoes and peppers started in the greenhouse to be transplanted into the hoop houses once the weather is warmer. \u00a0The other transplants growing in the new greenhouse are very happy and it&#8217;s wonderful to have such a welcoming growing environment to work in. We are still adjusting the ventilation. The rock storage is helping to moderate the temperature over night, however we have still been using a wood stove for extra warmth overnight and on cool cloudy days.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1153\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1153\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.orchardhillfarm.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_7619.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1153\" title=\"IMG_7619\" src=\"http:\/\/www.orchardhillfarm.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_7619-300x220.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.orchardhillfarm.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_7619-300x220.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.orchardhillfarm.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_7619.jpg 680w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1153\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Amanda Transplanting Peppers<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The first seedlings have germinated under the row \u00a0cover in the main garden and we have planted \u00a0potatoes \u00a0this week as well as another round of carrots, beets, \u00a0spinach etc. in the main garden.<\/p>\n<p>The end of last week we had a Draft Horse Workshop \u00a0for our apprentices and two outside participants. Our son, Grayden, came home to help teach the workshop and everyone made great strides in their teamster\u00a0abilities. \u00a0Caesar enjoyed the workshop as much as anyone, following along and getting lots of attention from everyone as they waited for their turn to drive. \u00a0Of course riding on the wagon is always one of his favorite activities.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have been enjoying the drawn out spring weather.
