Our interns work on the farm in return for room and board as well as a stipend and are given instruction and hands on experience in organic farming practices. At Orchard Hill Farm, we provide the opportunity for interns to learn to care for and work with the draft horse as a main source of power on the farm.
We have one intern position remaining for this season from June-October, for a person who is keenly interested in organic vegetable production using work horses in the field. Sharing of expertise and experience as well as a $600 monthly stipend and room and board is offered in exchange for interns’ labour. You can’t buy this kind of education!
We are accepting applications for 2018, please email Ellen – email@example.com for more information.
Orchard Hill Farm is part of the Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training (or ‘CRAFT’) network of farms in Southwest Ontario – http://craftsouthwestontario.ca. Farming organically (particularly with horses) is a particularly hands-on skill, and there are not very many places to learn such skills – you can only learn so much from a book!
